The inspiration for the creation of the work was the discovery of a photo of a curious map of Europe from the time of communism, on which West Germany – at that time enemy territory – was empty and sharply demarcated. The personified totality in my painting has a human body, and just as the territory is erased from the map, the heart is taken out of it. I wanted to point out the cruelty of totalitarian regimes, which we are witnessing. The painting was created using a combined technique (acrylic and markers on canvas).
It was created as a project on the subject Expanding assignment, atelier STARTUP on Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica, under the guidance of Mgr. art. Michaela Šuranská, ArtD.
