Artist Statement

In my work, I focus on exploring the connections between humans, nature, culture, and society.

My artistic practice has evolved from a critical reflection on social issues towards an attempt to gain a deeper understanding of their causes through the exploration of the human psyche, consciousness and the unconscious, as well as spiritual concepts, mechanisms of power, traditions, and social stereotypes.

My attention has gradually shifted towards the structures that shape these phenomena, which led me to an interest in the collective unconscious, where universal patterns of human experience are conveyed through old stories.

This process gives rise to symbolic worlds that are not isolated projects. Together, they form different layers of an evolving space in which psychological, philosophical, and anthropological concepts are interconnected into a single whole.

However, the approach of layering and interconnection is not only present on the conceptual level of my work. It is also reflected in my layered painting technique, the combination of artistic media, and the way I connect their material qualities with the meanings I embed within the works.

The main principle of my artistic practice is the concept of hidden layers, through which I explore the intangible dimensions of reality — memory, relationships, and symbolic systems that create invisible connections between material elements and meanings. I have explored these ideas through the lens of symbols, archetypes, and spiritual concepts, particularly new animism, which I understand as a way of perceiving the world based on the idea of the interconnectedness of living and non-living elements.

These conceptual ideas were most fully developed in the series The Soul of the World, in which I explored relationships between human beings and nature, soul and matter, conscious and unconscious aspects of the psyche, as well as questions of human closeness and intimacy.

My artistic realisation is based on the connection between in-depth research of a subject and an intuitive approach. During the creative process, my studio sometimes becomes a laboratory for experimenting with various methods and techniques, which I combine or transform by applying them to different media or technological environments.

I create source materials through drawing, frottage, photographic documentation, and digital collages, but I do not adhere to them strictly — I perceive them rather as starting points. This approach allows me to maintain openness and make decisions directly during the creative process. In my work, I sometimes use the method of psychic automatism and reflective writing, remaining open to chance, associations, and a state of flow, thus allowing space for intuitive decisions and the involvement of the unconscious in the artistic process.

Through my work, I strive to depict intangible dimensions of reality that reveal connections between individual and collective experiences, their universal principles, and recurring patterns.
