Man from the Future

Man from the Future, oil and thread on canvas, 100 x 80 cm, 2020

In connection with the rapid development of science and technology, our thoughts about the future are only natural.

Based on the study of scientists’ predictions, as well as my own imagination, I created an image of a man from an unspecified distant future.

Evolutionary changes on his body will be caused mainly by developments in the field of audiovisual technologies.

These are mainly reflected in the size of the eyes and ears, but also in the hands, on which a sixth finger will be added.

When working on the topic, I considered which aspects of our life will probably change and which will remain the same (or which I would like to see preserved).

Art, symbolized by the guitar, has accompanied humanity for millennia. That is why I believe and hope that this will continue to be the case.

The buildings in the background are inspired by the green city design by the architect Vincent Callebaut. Whether nature will be preserved for future generations depends on level of our ecological thinking in the present.

The picture is painted on canvas size 80 x 100 cm with oil paints on an acrylic underpainting underlined with charcoal. Guitar strings are made of thread and sewn with a needle.

The painting was created in the Studio of Classical Painting Disciplines at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica under the direction prof. Ľudovít Hološka, akad. mal.
